Telephone keypad to teach counting
There are many ways to teach counting. The Counting to 9 Activity Guide uses a telephone keypad format. The visuals are clear and simple. Placement of the numbers support memorization. The objective and goal is for your child to count up to 9.
I chose the telephone keypad so that your child can learn to make a phone call. Everything I craft has a deeper meaning, purpose, and function.
My son is learning to count to 9 and will have the option of making a phone call. Of course, teaching him to use a phone including when to call, how to call, and whom to call are different lessons. If he doesn’t use a phone that’s fine. The point is, this activity teaches counting, and counting is important either way.
Learning to make a phone call is a paired activity with this activity guide. You certainly don’t have to use it, but it’s there if you want to. As of writing this, there’s an app that has a pretend phone in the iTunes store. If you do a search, it’s called 123 Telephone: Play Phone HD, and it’s free. There are pretend phones in the Android app store as well. You can use this as an extension activity or incentive.
