Photo journaling my special needs journey

Photo journaling is self-expression. It’s how I experience and embrace earth. It’s my journey as a caretaker for someone living with special needs. It’s one way I practice self-awareness.

I use it artistic expression and when I craft materials for myself and others. When I update this post, I’ll be sure to let you know, in the newsletter. If you haven’t already, sign up for the newsletter below 🗞👇.

By the way, how do you use your pictures? Do you keep a photo journal? Make social stories, communication boards, visual schedules? Hang as art or share on social media to update family and friends? Leave a comment below, and let me know.

Dear World,

Brick wall (2018).
During Mercury retrograde season (7/2019), I looked through older photos. It sometimes feel like one big blur, but pictures capture moments and remind you where you’ve been and how far you’ve come. This picture is part of a series that got me started with photo journaling. His nursery school was raising money for a new playground. I took pictures of him on the old equipment. ~2009
